Weekend self-care open thread: Quincy Jones
Happy weekend, my friends.
Well. Right before the disaster of the election, we lost one of the greats.
I mean, I don't even know what I can say about Quincy Jones. His career defies definition. From jazz to pop to rock, he was a fixture in our musical firmament. He's worked with everyone, from Frank Sinatra, to Michael Jackson, to the Beatles. (Do I believe his scabrous comments about the Beatles being "non-playing motherfuckers?" Well. I have my doubts. But it's a great story.)
So this weekend we'll go into some Quincy deep cuts to celebrate his homegoing. No, the living will not envy the dead in these our latter days. But his journey is done. Time to honor him.
A tzaddik has joined the angels. His like was unique. We shall celebrate him
As always, dear friends, be ever kind, joyful, and gentle with yourselves and those around you.
