Weekend self-care open thread: In memoriam, Tony Bennett

On Friday, we lost one of the great souls of our time, chanteur Tony Bennett.

Mr. Bennett had his highs and lows, going from fame after World War II, descending into addiction and bankruptcy, and then surviving and thriving afterwards, becoming the prime exponent of the Great American Songbook.

A man is more than his work. In the war, he took part in liberating concentration camps. And this is from his obituary in the New York Times:

Great souls like his are rare, and must be lauded, praised, and remembered.

Goodnight, Tony. You left your heart in San Francisco, and we will carry you in our hearts.

So many more songs. Greatness is in the eye of the beholder. Tony Bennett was a truly good man. Let this weekend be a celebration of the tzaddik.

As always, dear friends, be ever kind and gentle with yourselves and those around you.
