Thursday Open Thread: Today's (Maybe) The Day!

Enough of LL's shenanigans, I say!

It's time for Trevor to step up and end all this tomfoolery.

Do I have inside sources? Of course not. Like 81.4 million of other Americans, I'm simply ready for justice to be served. And March 23rd is as good a day as any to make that happen.

While we're all hopeful that today will be the magical day in Manhattan, the fact of the matter is that we simply don't know when the first tiny-sized Trump shoe will drop. But while we keep our celebratory beverages chilled and unopened, there can be no denying that this has already been one of the worst weeks of Donald Trump's life. His Truth Social posts have gotten more and more deranged all while more and more information has come out, not only in regards to his pending Manhattan DA indictment but also with a whole new level of information in regard to the stolen documents case from our friend, Jack Smith. From CNN
Former President Donald Trump’s defense attorney Evan Corcoran is scheduled to testify Friday before the grand jury investigating classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago after a new order from a federal appeals court, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

The US DC Circuit Court of Appeals said that Corcoran must provide additional testimony and turn over documents about the former president as part of the criminal investigation into possible mishandling of classified documents.

The source said Trump’s side is unlikely to appeal to the Supreme Court.

In response to the decision, a Trump spokesperson said, in part, that “there is no factual or legal basis or substance to any case against President Trump” and that “prosecutors only attack lawyers when they have no case whatsoever.”

The announcement from a panel of three judges in the appellate court – less than a day after Trump sought to put Corcoran’s testimony on hold – adds momentum to the special counsel investigation as it seeks to secure evidence that could make or break a federal criminal case against Trump.

The Justice Department has successfully argued in court that prosecutors have enough evidence that Trump’s interactions with the lawyer were part of a possible crime that they can pierce the confidentiality of the conversations between the two.

The documents at issue in the case are Corcoran’s handwritten notes and transcribed verbal notes, regarding his representation of Trump in the Mar-a-Lago probe, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Corcoran previously testified and declined to answer some questions, citing attorney-client privilege. Prosecutors are also seeking access to notes from Corcoran.

It’s not fully known what Corcoran’s testimony and documents would reveal.

As LL mentioned yesterday, this is a big fucking deal.

And Jack Smith isn't playing around. Neither is Fanny Willis. And hopefully, neither is Alvin Bragg.

For seven years we've waited for Donald Trump to get his comeuppance. The damage he and his ilk have done will take decades to repair. We may never find out the true extent of their corruption. But what this week can and should show us is that while our justice system has been battered and bruised, it still can provide justice. The naysayers on the left have done their darndest to suppress votes by claiming Trump is immune to any and all prosecution. But for those of us who believe in America and the ideals upon which she was founded, we simply won't give in and give up. We will continue to believe that nobody, no matter how (supposedly) rich and powerful, is above the law. And most of all, we will continue to believe that karma and the Constitution will ultimately win out in a decades-long battle with a two-bit conman from Queens.

Keep the faith, friends. First drinks are on us.
