Weekend self-care open thread: Relief for Turkey and Syria

When I woke up on Monday, I was not expecting the breaking news of two massive earthquakes impacting southeastern Turkey and northeastern Syria.

As of this writing, the death-toll stands at 23,000 lives. That's an unimaginable number. And that number is only going to get worse. This will turn out to be the worst natural disaster so far of this young 21st century.

For this weekend's self-care, we're going to care for others. Below you will find links to sites which have compiled charities to which you can donate, courtesy of this article from Al Jazeera.

Both of these areas have been scenes of war; Turkey with the Kurdish insurgency; and one of the last rebel strongholds is in the affected area of Syria. They have been absolutely devastated, and need the world's help. So, if you can, please give, and spread the word to your circles.
And then there are the tried and true: Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam, and UNICEF.

Remember to do your due diligence. There are many scammers out there. Donate only to reputable, vetted charities, which can have the most impact on the ground.

This weekend, care for yourselves and for those who have had their lives absolutely upended. And, as always dear friends, be ever kind to yourselves and those around you.
