Weekend self-care open thread: Merry Christmas, and goodwill towards all

Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. Not because I believe that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten son of God, sent to Earth to wipe away the sins of humanity. It's my favorite holiday because, like other festivals of light in the darkness of winter, it points to hope that the times will get better. It is a reminder that we are all candles in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome us. It is a time to gather with those you love, whether you were born into them, or whether you made your own kinfolk. It is a moment to pause and reflect on the nature of humankind.

I wish for you all the true peace of the season.
