A mass murder was committed on March 2, 2008, in Memphis,
Tennessee. Four adults, two children were murdered. Three other children were injured.
Jessie Dotson was arrested for the shooting spree. He was related to some of
the victims. Dotson was sentenced to death and is currently in the Riverbend

The Early Childhood of Jessie Dotson
Jessie Lee Dotson Jr. was born on December 19, 1974. As
with most Serial and/or Spree Killers Jessie had a horrific childhood. He had a
hostile relationship with his mother who would leave the underaged children
alone for hours at a time. In one instance she went from Tennessee to North
Carolina on a church trip. His mother had divorced his father because of the abuse
she and the children suffered. She came back with a new boyfriend. Because of
the abuse and neglect Dotson was bullied at school for having bad clothing. He
had to repeat the fourth grade because he was absent from school regularly.
It was said that the mother would not let the children
contact their father after she left the abusive situation. The mother and her
children went to live with their grandmother. Dotson’s grandmother threw him
out of the house because he stole money to buy food. Dotson has been charged with
host of petty crimes throughout his early childhood. Which included disorderly
conduct for fighting with his brother and throwing beer bottles at a neighbor.
